Not a race goes by that some interested race fan ask you "How Fast Can that Thing GO?????"
You've heard it, and youve responded, fast enough to scare the crap out of most
normal folks!
Well, now is the chance to take your old flathead
and Race at Wilmington, Ohio with the East Coast Timing Association. aka ECTA. Its an organized speed event
that takes place on the 2 mile runway at the old DHL airport west of Wilmington,
ohio.
I went to the last meet of the season in October 2011 and I can tell you it was a blast! If you love cars,
i mean every kinda racing cars (or motorcycles) you will love this event.
Our Flathead cars will probably be able to run in the XF/VCT class. Thats XF for ford flathead and VCT for
vintage circle track. The east coast record is around 121.8 mph so mabe we will be close??? Who knows.
I kinda figured we could have our own event on saturday seeing who the fastest Modified
and Sportsman car are. Running the cars as we race them on ovals. Then, on Sunday (yea, we can camp out there)
we could have an all out run what ya want to deal (you know 4 barrels and cheater stuff!!!!!) to see if we could increase
our speed. Sounds FUN!!
Anyway, the cost is $50 to
join the ECTA. last all year.
and $120 a meet. $100 if you pay in advance.
Kinda pricy but, you get to stay there for 2 and 1/2 days Friday afternoon, till sunday afternoon. ANd did
I mention we get to camp out???
